Starting a blog....

is a lot harder than one may think. First, you need an idea. I was able to come up with that in a matter of minutes on a Monday morning at work (isn't that what we all do on Monday mornings?). Second, you need the confidence and support from people you know/love in order to get started. A HUGE shoutout to my friends Hallie and the G gals for giving me just that! I probably wouldn't be pursuing this without your big push! Lastly, you need to create your blog and write your first ever post....this step is proving to be quite difficult.

What should my first post be about? Should I begin with some background? Jump right in and get blogging? Well, I decided that my first post would explain my blog and get people excited about it! Great, that's all figured out! Then the wheels in my head started turning. Are people going to read it? Is this something people will be interested in? Is this just a waste of time? Well, according to Facebook, I will have at least 6 or 7 followers. My friend Molly told me she would repost my blog posts on her Facebook wall to get me more readers, so that might jump me up to about 10...hhhmmm....should I really pursue this? After yet another vote of confidence from my husband (shout out to Aaron!!) I decided I might as well give it a shot. Worst case scenario, I become a stay at home mom who makes millions off her blog...right?

Awesome, so now I have the idea and the confidence...time to create the blog! So of course I came up with my clever little title "Pin There Done That" and was super proud! I go to blogspot to start up my blog and put in pintheredonethat.blogspot.com as my domain, and it's already been used! Okay, no big deal, I soon come up with a different name and am now a host to the site mypinning.blogspot.com! It did not occur to me that there might already be someone out there who already had the same idea as me and already created a similar blog. When I told my husband that the domain name was already used he said "well maybe someone has already taken your blog idea." OH NO!! Well, low and behold, he was right! What a downer! Here I was thinking I'm sooo original....Well, as you can see, I am not going to let this stop me! I will write this blog, and I will have fun doing it! Hopefully you will all have fun reading it too!

If you can't tell from the title, my blog will be the adventures of my pins. That is to say that I will actually be DOING the things that I pin to pinterest and will be sharing my successes, and ultimately some failures, with you. Most of by blog posts will probably be about food (ahem, Irine), but I plan on having some DIY projects as well as knitting and crocheting.

Want a  preview of whats to come? I will be attempting a crocheted infinity scarf, a rose swirl cake , and a petal cake.

Pincerely yours,

Rachel
